Dr Maureen Taylor
Maureen has an MSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice and a PhD in Criminology where she explored the networks involved in child sexual exploitation. Maureen is an active researcher in the fields of public protection policing, child sexual and criminal exploitation, gender based violence, human trafficking, missing persons and social network analysis.
She is also an accredited trainer delivering training to professionals in child sexual exploitation, online sexual exploitation, and tackling violence in teenage relationships. She has been teaching criminology, investigation and policing since 2006 at a number of higher education institutions. Maureen’s experience also comes from 16 years work in policing and the criminal justice system as a Fingerprint Officer, Crime Scene Investigator, Forensic Scientist, Financial Investigator and Criminal Intelligence Analyst. She has also worked with offenders both in prisons and in the community and has coordinated community-based programmes for sex offenders and young people who sexually harm.
Maureen established the Glasgow Caledonian University Cold Case Unit and is currently a Co-Director for the Unit, the first in Scotland.
