On 13th September 1979, the body of a white European man was found on a nature reserve at Little Waltham, Essex. He had the general appearance of being homeless and may have complained of stomach pains in latter years.

About this case

The man was described as being between 55 – 60 years and between 173 – 175cm in height. He was of medium build and had short grey hair and a moustache.

He was wearing a single breasted grey striped jacket, charcoal grey trousers, a dark brown shirt, grey braces and a pair of black lace up boots, with a tie round the tops. He was also wearing a traffic wardens belt with the words: ‘Stw 1 Gowman’ written on the inside.

He had with him a silver metal ‘Ingersoll’ watch inside a mottled red plastic purse and he wore a plain gold metal ring on his right third finger.
