Can you help identify ‘Gloucester Man’?

Living Depiction by Hew Morrison©

On Saturday, 19 April 1997, the body of the man was found hanging from a tree within Gloucester Golf Club, on the southern end of Robinswood Hill Country Park near Matson.

Despite extensive investigations, he has never been identified. Now, a new living depiction of the man has been created by try and identify him.

  • The man was of white European appearance, although his ethnicity is not known

  • He is estimated to have been between 25 and 30 years old, and was 5ft 10ins (178cm) tall

  • He was wearing brown size 8 boots, which are relatively small compared with his height

  • He had short thick black hair, thick black eyebrows, and very light stubble on his top lip and chin but was otherwise clean shaven

  • He appeared to have good dentition and his only recorded identifying mark was a mole on his right abdomen

He was wearing what appears to be substantial outdoor clothing:

  • Green padded jacket

  • Black ‘Pepe International’ denim jacket

  • Black ‘Adidas’ T-shirt

  • Blue denim jeans/trousers

  • Blue scarf

  • Brown boots, size 8

Questions you can ask yourself

We’re keen for people to ask themselves, or people they know, these questions:

  1. Does this man resemble anyone you knew, or saw in the Gloucester area in the 1990s?

  2. If so, what do you remember about him?

  3. Does he resemble anyone you knew, and with whom you lost contact in the mid or late 90s?

  4. Did you attend the incident, or were you involved in investigating it?
