Volunteering with Us
We are an entirely volunteer-led organisation, and our team of volunteers play a critical role in supporting the work that we are committed to conducting. Our volunteers enable us to achieve our goals more effectively and efficiently, and also help to build awareness, support, and engagement with our mission as a charity.
We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming interest from people who wish to volunteer with Locate International. We aren’t currently taking new applications for Investigator roles, but you can join our waiting list below to be notified as soon as recruitment reopens. If you are part of this incoming group and you need help with induction information, logins, or access, please email us at: info@locate.international
We’re excited to share that we are onboarding a new batch of 50 volunteers in January 2026. This has been a huge undertaking for a volunteer-run organisation, and we’re delighted to finally welcome them into our investigations teams.
Other Ways to Get Involved with Locate
While Investigator recruitment is paused, we are actively seeking volunteers in a number of support and specialist areas that are essential to our work:
HR, training coordination / facilitation
OSINT (Open Source Intelligence)
Fundraising
Media / Marketing / Design
Video Production / Photography
If you’re interested in supporting us in HR, training, OSINT, fundraising, media/marketing, or video/photography, please tell us as much as you can about your experience and the areas you’d like to help with. If there’s something specific you’d like to contribute outside of these roles, we’d also love to hear from you — any skill, knowledge, or passion that could help our volunteers and investigations is welcome.
Join Our Specialist Advisor Network
Alongside our core volunteers, we are building a network of specialist advisors — hobbyists, enthusiasts, and professionals who can offer case-specific expertise whenever needed.
You do not need investigative experience. Your niche knowledge might be the detail that unlocks a breakthrough. In the past, we’ve even consulted a carrier bag specialist.
We are especially keen to hear from:
Graphologists (handwriting experts)
Knot / rope specialists (riggers or knot analysts)
Vintage clothing collectors or experts
Search & Rescue volunteers (UK-wide)
Keyring / memorabilia collectors
Collectors of any kind
Dentists, especially those familiar with historic NHS dental work

“Volunteering with Locate International allows me to support a charity doing fascinating, vital work, using my communications skills, working from home, and in my own time and pace.”

“Locate gives me the chance to use skills I have developed throughout my career, to support a charity doing hands on work. Rather than simply making a financial donation. ”
