Rocking and Rolling for a Cause with Glasgow Caledonian

Glasgow Caledonian University kindly arranged and hosted a charity night that was a remarkable success, bringing together supporters and local businesses in a night of fun, games, and giving. The event, which featured an exciting game of rock and roll bingo, left everyone in high spirits, raising an incredible total of £537.20 for Locate International.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the rock and roll bingo game. Similar to traditional bingo, the game added a musical twist. Instead of calling out numbers, music clips were played, and participants had to cross them off their play sheets. Laughter and excitement filled the room as participants raced to identify songs and mark their cards.

Generous Local Businesses Make a Difference

One of the key elements that made this charity night so special was the support from various local businesses that generously donated prizes. These businesses went above and beyond to contribute to the event’s success:

  1. Caulders Garden Centre: Donated an afternoon tea experience for lucky attendees to enjoy.

  2. Ox and Finch: Provided delectable meal vouchers, promising a culinary adventure.

  3. The Auctioneers: Offered exquisite dining experiences to lucky winners.

  4. Roastit Bubbly Jocks: Contributed to the feast with meal vouchers, adding a touch of gourmet delight.

  5. Tantrum Doughnuts: Gifted vouchers for irresistible, artisanal doughnuts.

  6. Bowl-a-rama Bowling: Provided an opportunity for fun with vouchers for a bowling extravaganza.

  7. Rangers FC: Donated an exclusive stadium tour, giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the club’s history.

  8. Bright Bus: Offered a unique bus tour experience to explore the beauty of Edinburgh.

  9. Purrple Cat Cafe: Presented a heartwarming opportunity to visit a cat paradise with over 30 feline residents.

In addition to these fantastic prizes, attendees had the chance to win two exceptional bottles of whisky in a raffle. The first was a bottle of Chivas Royal Salute with its own ceramic bottle and elegant packaging. The second was a bottle of Glen Keith whisky, aged 21 years and valued at nearly £200.

Dance-Offs and Cheers

The night was not short of excitement, with two occasions where multiple players called out to win prizes simultaneously. In the spirit of fun, these situations were resolved with dance-off competitions and cheers from the crowd, resulting in laughter and camaraderie throughout the evening.

The event served as a fantastic opportunity for the Scottish Cold Case Unit to come together outside their volunteer work. Emotional moments allowed participants to gain insight into the unit’s essential mission and purpose, fostering a deeper connection with ourcause.

Heartfelt Thanks to Supporters and Donors

Glasgow Caledonian University asked that we and they extend their heartfelt thanks to Eva, Karen, and Sarah for their generous prize donations. Additionally, special appreciation goes to Eva, Rachel, Sarah, Lisa, and Amanda for their invaluable assistance in setting up and selling tickets during the event.
