Waverton Man
Found On: 26th August 1993
On 26th August 1993 a man's body was found in Waverton, Cheshire, on the Crewe to Chester railway line 3 mls from Chester, having been struck by a train at 10.25pm (22.25).
He is believed to have been between 30-40 years old and of White European descent. He is of medium build and is estimated to be between 5’5”- 5’7” (167cm-172cm) tall. He had short, dark brown hair with a full beard. He also had a tattoo on his left hand which read ‘SONNY JIM’.
What we know
At the time he was found, he was wearing a black C&A parka jacket, a black M&S hooded jumper and black adidas tracksuit bottoms (size 30 to 35 waist). He was also wearing a blue Peter Storm cagoule (lightweight weatherproof raincoat or anorak with a hood) and size 8 Jake trainers.
Waverton man was carrying several personal possessions. This included a navy rucksack inscribed with "L'Assurance", "Malaide", and "Arege" and a blue bum bag. He was also in possession of a magnifying glass, three keys, a Walkman radio/cassette with headphones, and a Silvertone mouth organ.
