International Student Engagement Projects (ISTEP)
A collaborative initiative involving students, universities, law enforcement and industry partners from across the globe. Students will lead projects drawing upon scientific research and theory and applying to real world problems in the field of cold cases, missing persons and human identification. Fostering cross-border cooperation and making a lasting impact on communities.
International Cold Case Analysis Project (ICCAP)
ICCAP is an innovative initiative co-founded by Locate International, Amber Alert Europe, Police Expert Network Missing Persons (PEN-MP), Police Academy Lower Saxony, and UK and Australian Universities.
Our collaborative efforts bring together teams from universities in the UK, Germany, North Macedonia, Australia, as well as trainee police officers from the Police Academy at Lower Saxony and the German Federal Criminal Police Office Wiesbaden, both in Germany, and the French Gendarmerie. Over a comprehensive four-month period, these teams unite to review numerous unsolved murders, unidentified remains, or missing people cases.
The culmination of their work is presented to the German Public Prosecutor and representatives from police forces across Europe. Supported by the Council of Europe and PEN-MP, ICCAP is at the forefront of fostering cross-border cooperation.
During the course, up to 80 students engage in the analysis of four cold cases, each file containing more than 40,000 pages, within a four-week timeframe. The results, equivalent to over 10 full-time investigators' annual efforts, are presented in a comprehensive session at the conclusion of the course. This commitment to solving cold cases demonstrates our dedication to supporting law enforcement agencies and making a meaningful impact on communities.
