Catrin was last seen in her hometown of Holyhead on Anglesey, North Wales, in November 2021
About Catrin:
At the time of her disappearance Catrin was 22 years old
She had dark straight hair that went down past her shoulders
She was of a slim build and was about 5’5” (165cm) tall
She grew up in Holyhead on Anglesey in north-west Wales, the daughter of Gerry and Wendy, and the sister of Ciaran
She was last seen wearing a black coat and carrying a light-coloured bag
She was in her third year of a health and social care course at Bangor University, roughly 25 miles from home, and was considering continuing her studies in Birmingham
She had been thinking of taking time off after her course to travel, and had obtained a new passport
Catrin used to visit the Old Queen’s Head pub in Chester
Her parents describe her as shy, caring and very private, and with no known mental health issues
Her name is pronounced like “Catherine” but with a hard T instead of the soft TH
Her Disappearance:
On Monday, 15 November, 2021, Catrin bought a return train ticket from Bangor, where she was studying, to her hometown of Holyhead. After she reached Holyhead, CCTV footage showed she walked close to the family home, but, unusually, she did not call in.
At 1.18pm, an eyewitness saw her near the car park of the RSPB reserve at South Stack, a clifftop site next to a lighthouse a few miles west from Holyhead. South Stack is a known suicide spot, and while it is close to Holyhead, the Maguires say they had not been up there with Catrin for about 13 years.
Reports say that her phone was powered down manually at 2.12pm on the 15th, shortly after she received a message from a friend reminding her to sign a new tenancy agreement.
She was not reported missing until the next day, Tuesday 16 November, when a friend in Bangor called the Maguires to say Catrin had not turned up to sign the agreement that day.
Gerry says another possible witness told him he saw Catrin at a lower car park near South Stack at about 4.30-4.45pm on the 15th.
Her parents say police dogs searching the car park ended their search abruptly there, which they think suggests she left with someone in a car and that she did not wander down footpaths towards the cliffs/water.
