A Cold Case with a Warm Heart: Who were Georgio and Katrina?

In a remote corner of the British Isles, on the 21st of February 1979, the body of a man was found. The mystery has remained unsolved for over four decades; it’s a love story steeped in history, mystery, and loss.

The man, found on Porth Minick beach on St. Mary's, is believed to have been born between the world wars, and investigators estimate he was aged between 40 and 60. He had been in the water for up to four months. Standing at just 5ft 4, with dark brown greying hair, he wore a two-tone blue and white short-sleeved shirt paired with a woollen Eltex vest.

But it's a poignant detail on his ring finger that adds an extra layer to this romantic mystery.

On his right hand was a gold band; the symbol of a love story that we believe spanned decades. The inscription read "Georgio and Katrina 1956."

For over three years, our dedicated team of volunteer investigators have undertaken extensive genealogy research, tirelessly combing through records to find a match. To find the missing pieces of Georgio and Katrina’s love story. But despite our unwavering commitment, we are yet to find a definitive match or recorded marriage.

This Valentine’s Day, we can’t help but wonder - when did Georgio and Katrina first lock eyes? What unfolded in the pages of their love story that led to such a tragic ending? Was it a love forbidden, or one of life’s genuine love stories?

For us, we believe this is so much more than just a case; it's likely a true love story that ended prematurely. We desperately want to find the pieces of the puzzle to learn more about who Georgio and Katrina were, and unravel the mystery surrounding their life" says Freya Couzens, Director of Communications at Locate International.

Locate International believe the Isles of Scilly hold a secret that is waiting to be shared. Can you help us find the identity of this mysterious man, and perhaps write some sort of ending to Georgio and Katrina's love story?
