Daventry Woman

Found On: 10th April 2002

The body of a woman was found on 10th April 2002 on the grass area to the side of the M45 westbound, between Daventry and Byfield. Her age is estimated to be 50 - 65. She was Afro-Caribbean. She was short, only 5'2" tall and of medium build, weighing 72kg.

What we know

She had black hair which had a gingery tint, was braided at the back and was greying at the front. She had a prominent mole on the right side of her face between her nose and lip. Her clothing was expensive, a predominantly orange-coloured floral designer blouse by Tom Bowker which cost £500 new, and a pink and black layered skirt from another high-end brand.

A rugby-style shirt was also found near her but it is not clear whether this was left there at a different time. She was wearing only one shoe. The cause of death was later established as a heart attack.

Post-mortem tests have established that the woman probably came from Jamaica and may have had links to the St Catherine’s area.
